Two bright yellow Spirit Airlines Airbus 320s remain parked indefinitely at Boston Logan International Airport, Terminal B, Gates 37 and 38, following Spirit's abrupt shutdown announced on Saturday, May 2.
According to a Boston Globe report, the Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) has not announced when Spirit Airlines' planes will be moved, but officials have spoken with representatives of Spirit's creditors. Spirit operated from Logan for two decades, averaging about 11 daily departures during the last month.
Passengers at Logan are not expected to face major disruptions, as other airlines already service all Spirit destinations from the airport.
The Globe's business columnist Shirley Leung noted that JetBlue, housed in Terminal C adjacent to Spirit's gates, could be the first to attempt to secure Spirit's gates if a transfer of assets occurs and the Spirit planes move out of the way.
