A local brewery has earned top recognition for its beer.

Arlington Brewing Co. earned a gold medal in the English Mild or Bitter category for its Trafford Ale at the 2026 World Beer Cup. The awards were presented on Wednesday, April 22, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.

Arlington Brewing Co. describes its Trafford Ale as a British-style pub ale, low in alcohol but rich in flavor. It features toasty malt and Fuggles hops.

“We're honored to receive such a prestigious award," founder and head brewer Tom Allen said in a statement shared with the Patch of Arlington. “From day one, our focus has been on crafting world-class examples across a wide range of styles. This recognition reinforces that commitment and proves you don't need to be a massive operation to make exceptional beer. We're incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported us on our journey so far.”

Known as the “Olympics of Beer Competitions,” the World Beer Cup is organized by the Brewers Association. Approximately 255 judges from 37 countries evaluated 8,166 entries from 1,644 breweries across 50 countries this year. Awards were presented in 114 style categories and five cider categories. The Brewers Association established the World Beer Cup in 1996.

Located at 15 Ryder St. in Arlington, Arlington Brewing Co. has some big plans for the future. Allen plans to expand the brewery with a taproom and restaurant.
