A new Jamaica Plain bar and restaurant is offering guests a taste of the zero-proof life.

Beyond Proof serves solely nonalcoholic drinks crafted with the same level of care as their alcohol-based cousins. The venue, formerly known as Ten Tables, has been reinvented as a zero-proof craft cocktail bar with a Mediterranean-inspired menu. To date, it is the only establishment of its kind in Boston.

The dining room emphasizes a warm, inviting atmosphere, offering mezze boards, lamb stew, chicken and lemon soup, and desserts that pair well with nonalcoholic drinks.

At Beyond Proof, guests can enjoy cocktails like First Light and Settle to nonalcoholic beer and wine. The First Light features zero-proof tequila, grapefruit, and thyme. The Settle combines kava (a root used for inducing relaxation), lime, coconut, and muddled cucumber. Guests can also enjoy alcohol-free interpretations of classics such as the dirty martini, gin and tonic, and espresso martini.

Potential future offerings could include a THC tincture, pending a social-consumption license in Massachusetts.

Head bartender Fabian Santiago is one of the master zero-proof mixologists who create sophisticated nonalcoholic cocktails, like the Smoked Old Fashioned, made with zero-proof bourbon.

Beyond Proof creator Krista Kranyak launched the concept to tap into the sober-curious demand and draw a diverse crowd, including locals, former Ten Tables patrons, and guests from other neighborhoods around Boston.

“You can build a zero-proof craft cocktail with just as much structure and complexity as a real cocktail,” she said in a statement shared with The Boston Globe.

Kranyak's venture aligns with a broader national trend toward sober or zero-proof lifestyles, as more zero-proof venues appear in major cities and drinking rates in the United States show signs of decline.

“People are really appreciating me holding this space. I don't mean to sound corny, but it really fills me up,” she added.

Beyond Proof is at 597-599 Centre St. in Jamaica Plain.
