Newport Vineyards is unveiling a new farm-to-table, on-site dining concept at its Middletown, Rhode Island, property on Friday, May 8.
The new establishment, Farm & Barrel Bistro, will link the vineyard, its on-site Taproot Brewing Co., and the winery's farm and greenhouse operations together.
On opening night, May 8, guests can enjoy complimentary sparkling wine, an amuse-bouche, live music in the downstairs taproom, and a commemorative souvenir glass for wine by the glass. The Alexus Lee Trio will provide entertainment in the downstairs taproom from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Guests on opening night can receive 15% off purchases of four bottles of wine or four-packs of beer with their dining receipt.
According to a What's Up Newp article, the restaurant will serve lunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and dinner from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. A “Sips and Snacks” menu of cheeses, wines, and craft beers will be offered in between lunch and dinner.
Sunday brunch will continue from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by the full menu from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Executive Chef Kyle Johnson, a Rhode Island native and Johnson & Wales graduate, leads the kitchen at Farm & Barrel Bistro, located at 909 East Main Road (Route 138) in Middletown.
“Farm & Barrel Bistro is our next evolution of dining here at Newport Vineyards,” owner John Nunes said in a statement shared with What's Up Newp. “From vine to glass and field to fork, this new experience brings everything together in a way that is both elevated and deeply rooted.”
The dining format offers two settings — Taproom Terrace and Overlook lounge — with a full-service cocktail program and a rotating farm-to-table menu highlighting house-made pastas, local seafood, and Rhode Island-inspired dishes.
According to What's Up Newp, Newport Vineyards was created in 1995 by brothers John and Paul Nunes. It is the largest grape grower in New England, delivering more than 20,000 cases of estate-grown wine annually across 100 acres in Middletown.
