Massachusetts Ice Cream Truck Owner Gives Free Treats to Kids

A Massachusetts ice cream truck owner in Hubbardston is sharing acts of kindness accompanied by sweet treats.

Maddy's Ice Cream Truck is offering free ice cream to children who have no money this summer. The goal is to brighten the summer for kids and families in need.

The owner, identified only as Maddy, was inspired by a boy who approached her truck to order ice cream but did not have any money.

“He says he has no dollars,” one worker told Maddy. “No dollars.”

“It's OK. Tell him to come back,” Maddy said, as she recounted the story to NewsCenter 5 WCVB.

Maddy posted a video on social media, saying, “We don't turn kids away when they don't have money. You want an ice cream from Maddy, you get an ice cream from Maddy.”

That viral video has now spurred donations from followers through a “No More Tears Fund,” promoting a pay-it-forward gesture. The donations continued to roll in, putting Maddy in the position to offer free ice cream to children throughout the summer.

Maddy said she hopes more people will be inspired to contribute after hearing her story.

“Because if that was ever my son, I would want someone to show him the same kind of kindness,” she said to WCVB. “Always remember kindness is always free.”
