HBO's The Gilded Age has been renewed for a fourth season and is returning to Newport.

"Created by Lord Julian Fellowes (Downton Abbey) and set in New York City and Newport, Rhode Island, circa the 1880s, the show's return signals more than just another season — it marks another chapter of collaboration between a major HBO production and Rhode Island's talented workforce," the Rhode Island Film & Television Office said in a media release shared with the Patch of Newport.

The release further notes that filming generates weeks of steady work for carpenters, drivers, caterers, and hotel staff, driving economic activity for the Rhode Island community. The Preservation Society of Newport County has especially noticed the increase in tourism, noting a positive impact on visitation to the Newport Mansions.

“One of the principal joys of filming The Gilded Age was the discovery of Newport, Rhode Island,” Fellowes said in the release. “Not only did I find a beautiful seaside town filled with architectural marvels, but I also met people who were as kind and helpful as any filmmaker could wish. I look forward to returning as soon as it can possibly be arranged.”

In March, the Rhode Island Film & Television Office issued a casting call for babies when filming resumes for the new season. According to the film office, parents of twins would receive $500 for eight hours, and parents of a single baby would receive $350 for eight hours.
