Lexington Plans Revolutionary War Reenactments for Patriots’ Day Weekend

Lexington will launch Patriots' Day weekend events commemorating the battles of Lexington and Concord and the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution.

Friday, April 17

Commemorations will begin at 9 p.m. at the Hancock-Clarke House, where the Lexington Minute Men and the Lexington History Museums will recreate Paul Revere's ride from Boston to Lexington. Crowds can see Revere alert patriot leaders about British attacks at 36 Hancock St.

Saturday, April 18

A reenactment of the Battle of Lexington will begin at 5:15 a.m. with the ringing of an alarm. After the civilian evacuation, actors in 18th-century military dress will fight on Lexington Battle Green until 7:30 a.m. This reenactment will continue at 1157 Massachusetts Ave. at 10:30 a.m. with a reenactment of the Battle of Tower Park. The British retreat to Boston will take place at noon.

The Minute Men, marching bands, and other reenactment groups will kick off the town's Patriots' Day parade at 1:30 p.m. This parade will take place at the intersection of Maple Street and Massachusetts Avenue, march through Lexington Center, and end at Worthen Road.

Sunday, April 19

Reenactment groups, including the Minute Men, will participate in tours and demonstrations at Minute Man National Historical Park during the day. The site will offer tours, enabling visitors to experience battle reenactments.

Monday, April 20

The Minute Men will mark Patriots' Day at 9:30 a.m. with a memorial ceremony at the graves of a British soldier and Capt. John Parker at Ye Olde Burial Ground.

At 10 a.m., the Minute Men will join the Daughters of the American Revolution for a wreath laying on the Lexington Minute Men Monument, honoring soldiers who died in the battle.

Tuesday, April 21

A U.S. naturalization ceremony will take place on the Town Common at 11 a.m. The ceremony will feature the Minute Men performing on fife and drum, with a color guard presenting the flag.
