All'antico Vinaio, a Florence, Italy-based sandwich shop famous for its large, handmade Florentine schiacciata sandwiches, is expanding to Boston.

The shop announced it will open a second location on Washington Street in Downtown Crossing, adjacent to the Old South Meeting House, marking the brand's first presence in downtown Boston. In its new Downtown Crossing home, All'antico Vinaio will be only a half-mile from South Station and Boston Harbor.

This new Downtown Crossing shop follows the brand's successful Boston debut in Back Bay in 2025 and will complement the existing store at 565 Boylston St.

According to a Boston Uncovered report, the Mazzanti family opened All'antico Vinaio in 1991 in Florence and has since expanded to more than 50 shops worldwide.

All'antico Vinaio emphasizes authenticity and quality in its creations. The business uses imported Italian ingredients such as stracciatella and burrata in its sandwiches. Menus center on generous portions around $15, offering either build-your-own or predesigned sandwiches that are large enough to feed two.

All'antico Vinaio is known for long lines at its more than 50 locations. It has earned praise from Saveur magazine as “home of the world's best sandwiches.”
