Fenway Johnnie's, a sports bar and event space near Fenway Park, has closed after eight years in business, according to a Facebook post from the restaurant.

The post shared on the restaurant's Facebook page featured a brief message to customers: “Sorry, we're closed… Thank you for 8 great years!” No further details about the closure were provided.

According to a Boston.com report, the Fenway concept began in 2018 when the founders of West End Johnnie's announced plans for a Fenway location in the former Tilted Kilt space.

Located at 96 Brookline Ave., Fenway Johnnie's promoted itself with the slogan “Great food. Great drinks. Great people.” It offered staples such as potato skins, burgers, fish and chips, steak tips, and a Fenway sausage.

The closure drew surprise and nostalgia from customers, with some thinking it was an April Fools' prank. Others recalled pre-game visits to Fenway Park for Red Sox games, concerts, and Opening Day events.

West End Johnnie's continues to operate at 138 Portland St.
