The Cape and Islands United Way is hosting its annual Community Baby Showers in May to support new and expectant parents across Martha's Vineyard, Cape Cod, and Nantucket.
Event dates are set for Saturday, May 9, on Martha's Vineyard; Sunday, May 17, on Cape Cod; and Thursday, May 28, on Nantucket. The showers provide participating families essential baby supplies — diapers, wipes, and clothing — and connect families with local resources and services for low-income households.
“Welcoming a baby is an exciting moment for families, but it can also come with financial challenges,” said Mark Skala, CEO of Cape and Islands United Way, in a statement shared with the Provincetown Banner. “Our Community Baby Showers help ensure that parents across Cape Cod, Nantucket, and Martha's Vineyard have access to the supplies and resources they need to give their children a strong start.”
Local businesses are invited to sponsor the showers, and community members can contribute by donating items or financial gifts to support participating families. Several sponsors, including the following, support the Community Baby Showers:
- A Baby Center
- Cape & Coast Bank
- Cape Cod 5
- Cape Cod Children's Place
- Ciervo Foundation
- Community Foundation for Nantucket
