2 Boston Bars Shine in North America’s Top 100 List for 2026

Two Massachusetts bars were recently named among the 100 best bars in the region, according to 50 Best's North America's 50 Best Bars 2026 list.

Hecate Bar and The Wig Shop came in as some of the best 100 bars in New England.

Hecate Bar, a speakeasy in Back Bay, Boston, sits at No. 88 on the extended list. Located at 48 Gloucester St., below the Greek restaurant and wine bar Krasi, the Hecate Bar has seating for only 24 people. The bar "leans into all things mystical through a fantastical drinks list delivered with theatrical presentations that feel fitting to its surrounds," according to 50 Best.

The Wig Shop, located near Boston Common at 27 Temple Place, ranks No. 86 on the extended list. Tucked away behind what appears to be a wig shop, the store once served as a spot for hairpieces and costumes. Here, guests can "expect glitzy interiors and a joyfully exuberant food and drink offering," noted 50 Best.

According to a Patch of Boston report, 50 Best's extended list of favorite bars, released on Tuesday, March 31, detailed the spots ranked No. 51-100. The extended list was generated through votes from the "voting academy," comprising more than 300 independent cocktail experts, renowned bartenders, educators, and drink writers from across the region.
