Phoenix Theatres is in the process of converting the former Showcase Cinema De Lux at Patriot Place, near Gillette Stadium, into a new cinema experience.
The revived theater will feature heated reclining loveseats and Dolby Atmos immersive audio in every auditorium, a first-of-its-kind setup for New England. In addition, movies will start on time with no ads, reflecting a commitment to a premier viewing experience over at-home streaming.
"What you have to offer is something that audiences can't get inside of their home. You need something that's really going to be spectacular, and you have to create an experience for people that is really comfortable and exciting and a place that you want to go out to," Senior Vice President of Project Development for Phoenix Theatres Jordan G. Hohman said in a statement shared with NBC 10 NEWS WJAR.
The project reflects a regional shift in entertainment venues as theaters in Seekonk and Lincoln close, opening opportunities for the Patriot Place venue to shine.
"We're here to fill in those gaps, and Patriot Place just seemed like a natural place for us to go," said Cory A. Jacobson, the founder and president of Phoenix Theatres Corp.
The Patriot Place location is slated to open in the spring as the Phoenix Theatres site.
