What a difference a few weeks make in New England. Barely three weeks ago, the region was pummeled by a punishing blizzard that dumped feet of snow across Massachusetts. In a turnabout of temperatures, Boston basked in the glow of the sun and 60-degree temperatures on Monday, March 9.

CBS Boston WBZ-TV caught up with some Massachusetts residents who were taking advantage of the sun and warmth outside. "We are so excited we've been cooped up inside all winter, and spending money on indoor play spaces, so it's nice for a change not to do that," said Shannon Deleire of Lynn about the joy of playing outdoors again with her children.

After a tough winter, many individuals like Deleire expressed relief and renewed optimism about turning the corner on the winter of 2026. Although many ball fields are still snow-covered and piles of dirty snow are still around, people flocked to M Street Beach near Castle Island in Boston to enjoy the outdoors.

According to CBS Boston, temperatures reached 68 degrees in Boston on Monday, March 9. As of 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10, the CBS Boston WBZ Next Weather Team was forecasting a new record high in Boston.
