How would you like to turn back the clock for some old-fashioned family-style dining?
The aptly named Sixties Diner in Norwood, Massachusetts, recreates that 1960s diner vibe with retro decor — black-and-white checkered floors, colorful vinyl booths, and vintage movie posters — to transport guests to that era.
According to a Tasting Table report, menu items at The Sixties Diner are named after 1960s celebrities (such as Sonny & Cher and Simon & Garfunkel). The business features classic diner fare — everything from all-day breakfasts to chicken and waffles, omelets, a crab cake Benedict, pancakes, French toast, burgers, sandwiches, and shakes — with generous portions and flavors enhanced by tableside whipped cream. Several dishes reinvent traditional recipes, fusing old-school charm with modern flavors. Drinks feature a variety of flavored coffees and espressos.
While owner Peter Morrissey admits that the business itself is contemporary, the feeling evoked when dining here is "like you're living in the 60s."
Writing for Tasting Table, Michelle Welsh noted, "If you want a place to enjoy a quiet meal, this is probably not the destination. Some customers note that the raucous ambiance — music, singing, and blaring televisions — can be overwhelming and loud, but this lively setting is exactly what draws many visitors in."
Breakfast and lunch are served seven days a week from 6:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. for those seeking good vibes in a dynamic environment.
