The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating a close call on a Boston Logan International Airport runway. This near-miss happened on a snowy Sunday morning, March 1, when one plane had to slam on its brakes during takeoff to avoid colliding with another.

A passenger, who wished to remain anonymous, aboard a Republic Airways plane operating for Delta, spoke with 7NEWS Boston about the near-miss on the runway. According to the passenger's account, the flight, with approximately 100 people on board, was en route to John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York when the pilot slammed on the brakes seconds before takeoff.

Following the incident, the individual reported that the pilot told other passengers on the aircraft that the other plane was located only about 200 yards away.

“Our pilots were heroes. It could have, and I imagine many cases would have, been a disaster. These guys were great,” the gentleman stated.

No one was injured in the incident. After the flight crew inspected the aircraft, it was able to taxi back to the runway's start and take off shortly afterward.

A spokesperson for Republic Airways told 7NEWS the airline had no reports about this flight. When reached for comment, an FAA spokesperson stated the incident is under investigation.
