Changes are coming to Kendall Square Cinema soon. The indie favorite will begin renovations starting in March. Reports state the location will see larger screens, luxury recliners, and a new, expansive menu.

The theater is hoping to soon have a fresh, modern movie experience for all customers. But they will still continue with commercial films to cater to a larger audience. The owners, Landmark Theater, expect to finish the project by late summer.

“The business has changed quite a bit in terms of art,” said Mark Mulcahy to Boston.com, the Head of Brand and Marketing at Landmark. “We still play lots of art films and still cater to that audience.”

Kendall Square Cinema has been operated by Landmar Theaters since 1995. The popular theater has seen major events such as local premieres, film festivals, and more.

In 2017, the theater underwent renovations when it got upgrades to the lobby, restrooms, and auditorium. But this renovation will be more extensive than that

The theater plans to create one major venue space that will hold a larger screen, stage, and more luxury experiences for customers to enjoy. There will also be a full-service bar for those looking to enjoy some of the new menu items. If you are looking to host an event here, there will also be a new private area for events/parties available to rent.

We cannot wait to see what is to come for the future of Kendall Square Cinema.
