The Walking Dead spinoff, The Walking Dead: Dead City, has been a boon for Worcester.
The legion of zombies and production crews has netted Worcester more than $190,000 in revenues from public safety details and other fees. Filming took place in Downtown Worcester throughout 2024 and 2025, turning Worcester's streets into apocalyptic settings for the series.
According to documents obtained by MassLive through a records request, overall city charges for police and fire department details from May 2024 through November 2025 totaled $178,702.19. Of this amount, $151,253.03 was charged by police detail and $27,449.16 by fire department detail. Substantial portions of revenue, $40,264.43 for police and $6,891.44 for fire, are still outstanding as of Wednesday, Feb. 11.
MassLive reported that Newfound Lake Productions I, LLC has agreed to pay Worcester a total of $13,000 to access two filming locations: $9,500 for The Memorial Auditorium and $3,500 for 30 Major Taylor Blvd.
The second season of The Walking Dead: Dead City premiered in May 2025 on AMC and AMC+. This season picks up on the adventures of Negan and Maggie as they navigate the zombie-ridden streets of New York City.
