Boston Named Funniest City in America

A new national ranking has placed Boston at the top of a list of the funniest cities in the United States.

New research from online ticketing platform TicketSource has officially named Boston the funniest city in the country. Boston ranked ahead of the District of Columbia, Atlanta, San Francisco, and Orlando for the comedy honor.

According to TicketSource research, Boston posted a comedy score of 8.17 out of 10, driven by more than 206,000 comedy-related searches and 12 venues per 100,000 people.

To determine its rankings, TicketSource considered cities by comedy club density, comedy-related search demand, upcoming ticketed comedy events, and the number of notable comedians each city has produced.

According to a Time Out Boston report, Boston comedy venues such as The Wilbur, Laugh Boston, and Improv Asylum contribute to the city's dynamic comedy scene through diverse lineups of entertainers each week.
