Whether the New England Patriots or the Seattle Seahawks come out on top for this year's Super Bowl matchup, one thing is certain. The winning team will be showered with confetti from a New England-based company.

MassLive reported that the confetti used for this year's Super Bowl will be manufactured by Seaman Paper Co. The Gardner paper company has been the main confetti supplier for Super Bowls since the early 2000s, according to owner Jamie Jones Jr.

This year, Seaman Paper is supplying 500 sheets of flame-retardant confetti, sized 20 by 30 inches, to Artistry in Motion, which will be cut and colored to match the Super Bowl teams' colors. Jamie Jones Jr., owner of Seaman Paper Co., told MassLive that the process includes dyeing and flame-retardant treatment of the paper.

The company also produces other paper products beyond confetti. For example, Seaman Paper has a history of supplying confetti for notable events, including green-and-white paper for Celtics celebrations, materials used in Taylor Swift shows, and tissue paper for Hershey Kisses packaging.

Although the Super Bowl order is not the largest the company handles, about 400 pounds of paper, workers at the company said it is the most meaningful for them.

Dennecrepe plant manager Dave Dexter said that the Lombardi Trophy-shaped confetti that showers down at football's biggest game traces its origins to Gardner. "We've been making the confetti for 20, 25 years now," he said in a statement shared with CBS Boston (WBZ). "That was our claim to fame when we were winning every Super Bowl. And now Drake Maye is going to take us back."
