Checkers Set to Open in Worcester on Feb. 10

The first Checkers location in New England is scheduled to open this month in Worcester.

Checkers, a fast-food chain known for its hamburgers, chicken, and wings, is expected to open at 99 Gold Star Blvd. It will take over the former Honey Dew Donuts location, which closed on March 19, 2025.

The Worcester Business Journal reported a Tuesday, Feb. 10, grand opening date. It will open daily from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m.

According to a Patch of Worcester report, franchisees Mouhamad Saleem and Kelly Moughal, along with a Checkers representative and general manager, appeared before the Worcester License Commission on Oct. 21, 2025, and secured a Common Victualler license for the business.

Saleem also operates a Little Caesars in Worcester. Checkers, which merged with Rally's several years ago to form Checkers and Rally's, is based in Tampa, Florida.

In addition to Checkers, the Patch reported that several other businesses will open in Worcester this month, including Bees And Thank You inside Worcester Public Market in Kelley Square, 160 Green St., and August Coffee, at 554 Main St., across from Federal Square and The Hanover Theatre.
