The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) has planned lane closures on Route 24 for ancillary structure inspections between Avon and Bridgewater.

According to a report by The Enterprisework is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 4, and continue until 4 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 5. The inspections will affect Route 24 northbound from exit 33 to exit 35 in Avon and southbound from exit 28 to exit 24 in Bridgewater. Lane closures and traffic alterations are expected to start at 9 p.m.

As The Enterprise reports, both northbound and southbound lanes on Route 24 will have closures during the inspection period. However, at least one lane will remain open at all times with police present to direct traffic and ensure public safety.

Temporary traffic changes, including lane and shoulder closures, may occur as needed. Signage and directional messaging will be activated to guide drivers through the work area.

MassDOT cautions that travelers should expect delays, reduce speed, and exercise caution when traveling on Route 24. Construction schedules are weather-dependent and subject to change without notice.

Real-time traffic updates and alerts are available via the Mass511 app or mass511.com, the 511 phone service, or by following MassDOT on X (formerly known as Twitter).
