After shuttering 79 stores last year, the national restaurant chain Wahlburgers is claiming that 2026 will be a banner year for the company.
In a press release issued on Monday, Jan. 26, Wahlburgers announced an expansion of a program launched at the end of last year that involves food trucks outside Home Depot locations.
According to a MassLive report, Wahlburgers-branded trucks are already operating outside Home Depot stores in Rockledge, Stuart, and Vero Beach, Florida. Based on the public response from these locations, the company plans to open additional Wahlburgers food trucks throughout this year.
The food trucks offer a limited menu but will feature the company's popular Our Burger, Smashburger, BBQ Road Burger, and Crispy Chicken Ranch, as well as house-made milkshakes and breakfast offerings.
In its release, the company stated it will open a restaurant in the Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport in February. This opening marks the fourth airport location for the company, alongside Boston Logan International Airport, Detroit Metro Airport, and Toronto Pearson International Airport.
Wahlburgers has also teamed up with Bass Pro Shops to open locations in Irvine, California, and Sayreville, New Jersey.
According to MassLive, the announcement came less than a year after Hy-Vee grocery stores in Iowa and several adjacent states announced they were concluding their partnership with Wahlburgers. That decision led to the closure of 79 restaurants, reducing the brand's locations to approximately 34.
“This will be an exciting year of growth for Wahlburgers as we continue to deliver strong year-over-year performance,” said Randy Sharpe, CEO of Wahlburgers, in the news release. “From expanding into new markets to diversifying our offerings through new experiences and touchpoints, Wahlburgers is the brand to watch.”
Wahlburgers, founded by actor Mark Wahlberg and his brothers Donnie and Paul Wahlberg, launched in 2011. A reality TV show that featured the brand aired on A&E for five years.
