The MSPCA-Angell is hosting a fee-waived horse adoption event this weekend at its Nevins Farm facility in Methuen.
According to a Western Massachusetts News (WGGB and WSHM) report, the MSPCA is very tight with capacity following the organization's recent involvement in significant law enforcement cases. One of these cases included the seizure of more than 300 animals at a Hadley property.
MSPCA-Angell emphasizes that this event is rare. It typically does not offer fee waivers for large animals such as horses. Normally, adoption fees range from $300 to $1,500.
No appointment is required for the adoption event, which will take place on Saturday, Jan. 31, and Sunday, Feb. 1, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at MSPCA-Angell at Nevins Farm in Methuen. Prospective adopters should bring photos of the enclosure, shelter, or boarding facility where the horse would live.
“We're looking to find homes for six really great horses,” said Erika Tonnon, placement coordinator at Nevins Farm, in an MSPCA-Angell news release. “They all came to us through law enforcement activity, so we've gotten them healthy and showed them the love and care they needed to move on to the next chapter of their lives.”
