Registration Open Through Jan. 29 for 2026 Boston 5K

Registration is now open for the 2026 Boston 5K, set for Saturday, April 18, two days before the 130th Boston Marathon on Monday, April 20.

If you want to participate, you'd better do it soon, as registration will close at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 29. Interested athletes can submit a Boston 5K registration application within the Athletes' Village. Individuals will be notified if they've been accepted into the race over the coming weeks.

Last year, the Boston 5K reached its field size capacity in 21 minutes. This unprecedented demand prompted race officials to institute a new random selection process that will determine entry for this year's 5K, aiming to give more athletes a fair chance, according to a Boston 25 News report.

The Special Olympics Massachusetts Xtra Mile team is adding to the energy of the event. It will offer fundraising opportunities through the Boston 5K to support individuals with intellectual disabilities by harnessing the power of sport.
