Two community hubs will be rehoused in Somerville as part of upgraded plans for a significant redevelopment project in Davis Square that has raised disagreements among community members.

Project developers for the Copper Mill project have agreed to relocate The Burren and Dragon Pizza into the new development upon completion of the project.

Developer Andrew Flynn told Boston.com that residents' concerns about the future of the beloved businesses prompted the development team to re-evaluate its plans.

The Burren's owner, Thomas McCarthy, confirmed support for the project in a letter in a mid-December filing with MassHousing that noted McCarthy and developers had agreed on a short-term extension of The Burren's lease at its current location and a long-term lease to relocate The Burren to the new development once it's completed, according to the Boston.com report.

Flynn told Boston.com that he has only verified the relocation of The Burren and Dragon Pizza in the new development; however, he is open to considering others.

Several other businesses will also be impacted by the development, including McKinnon's Meat Market, Martsa on Elm, and Kung Fu Tea.

The plan reviewed by Boston.com calls for 502 residential units in an apartment-style tower, 20% of which are reserved for households earning at or below 80% of the area median income, plus ground-floor commercial space to revitalize Davis Square.

Copper Mill officials plan to meet with the Davis Square Neighborhood Council and hold a public meeting in February. According to Boston.com, the developers have not applied to the city of Somerville.
