Tripadvisor users aren't shy about their affinity for Boston.
The Needham-based travel website published its Travelers' Choice Awards Best of the Best Destinations on Tuesday, Jan. 13, and Boston made it into two categories: top destinations in the U.S. and top destinations for food in the U.S.
According to a Boston.com report, the Tripadvisor awards, based on the quality and quantity of ratings and reviews from users between Oct. 1, 2024, and Sept. 30, 2025, were organized into six categories: top destinations, trending destinations, food destinations, culture destinations, honeymoon destinations, and solo travel destinations.
The city of Boston, which ranked No. 10 among top destinations in the United States and No. 8 for food, is a prime place to explore history through its neighborhoods, according to Tripadvisor.
“Walk the Freedom Trail the first time you visit Boston, and you'll quickly get a sense of this coastal city's revolutionary spirit and history. But make sure you also explore some of Boston's fine museums (try the Isabella Stewart Gardner, featuring masterpieces displayed in their collector's mansion) and old neighborhoods (like the North End, Boston's Little Italy). You can't claim to have experienced real Boston culture, though, until you've watched a Red Sox game from the bleachers,” Tripadvisor editors said.
The TripAdvisor award isn't the only recognition bestowed on Boston. Conde Nast Traveler named Boston one of the best places to visit in 2026, noting its rich history, delicious food, and epic events. Afar magazine posted the article “Why we're flocking to Boston in 2026,” praising the city's restaurants, arts, and celebrations planned this year to mark the 250th anniversary of the United States and the city hosting matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
