The Barkery Dog Bar, one of Maine's first indoor dog bars, is set to open in early February. A grand opening is scheduled for Feb. 5 in South Portland, according to a Facebook post.

The venue, located at 180 Waterman Drive in South Portland, was initially planned to open last summer. Permitting and construction delays, however, circumvented those plans.

According to The Barkery's website, the establishment will offer dog-friendly and human-friendly spaces. These areas include on-leash dining areas for dogs and their owners, an off-leash dog park where dogs can play while guests dine, and a human-only dining area, complemented by a menu featuring gourmet fare, craft beers, creative cocktails, and dog-friendly treats.

The Barkery's co-owners and staff will supervise and support the dog park to prevent dog-to-dog conflicts, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for guests and their canine companions.

Dogs must be at least four months old, be friendly and well-socialized, and have up-to-date vaccinations (rabies, distemper, canine parvovirus, and Bordetella) to enter.
