AmeriCorps Cape Cod to Host MLK Day of Service With Clothing Swap, Winter Drive
AmeriCorps Cape Cod will host its 2026 Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service on Monday, Jan. 19, 2026, in Harwich.

AmeriCorps Cape Cod will host its 2026 Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service on Monday, Jan. 19, 2026, in Harwich. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the 204 Cultural Arts Municipal Building, 204 Sisson Road, in Harwich.
This year's event will feature a winter coat and hygiene products drive, a free pop-up clothing swap, clothing mending workshops, children's activities, and a complimentary community lunch.
Walk-ins are welcome for the clothing swap, and registration is encouraged for the lunch and workshops.
According to a Barnstable County news release, participants are encouraged to bring gently used garments to take part in the “bring something, leave something” clothing shop, designed to promote reuse and reduce waste. All leftover items from the seasonal drive and the clothing swap will be donated to the Harwich Family Pantry, supporting families throughout the winter.
New and gently used winter coats and hygiene items will be collected at 10 designated locations across Barnstable County through Jan. 16, including libraries and town buildings. Donation locations are as follows:
- Brewster Ladies' Library
- Centerville Library
- Dennis Memorial Library
- Eldridge Library
- Harwich Community Center
- Harwich Town Hall
- Orleans Conservation Trust
- Snow Library
- Sturgis Library
- West Yarmouth Library
According to the Barnstable County news release, AmeriCorps Cape Cod is a national service program operating through Barnstable County. Its program focuses on meeting Cape Cod's critical environmental and disaster response needs through a dedication to community service and local collaboration.
The program is funded by Barnstable County and by a grant from AmeriCorps the Agency. AmeriCorps Cape Cod is managed and operated by the Barnstable County Commissioners' Office with support from the Massachusetts Service Alliance.
