JetBlue Unveils Boston-Themed Airbus A320, a ‘Flying Love Letter’ to the City

The airplane, dubbed Wicked Blue, is painted blue and features large Boston lettering, colorful depictions of landmarks, and a tail design with the words “Boston” and “Love.”

JetBlue is unveiling a new Boston-themed Airbus A320-232

The airplane, dubbed Wicked Blue, is painted blue and features large Boston lettering, colorful depictions of city landmarks, and a tail design with a postal code and the words "Boston" and "Love." JetBlue officials describe the plane as “a new flying love letter to the city.” 

The landmarks featured in the letters that make up the word "Boston" in the design include the following:

  • A tribute to Boston's transportation system
  • The Paul Revere statue in the North End
  • The Zakim Bridge that anchors the city's skyline
  • A Boston lobster
  • The Massachusetts State House and its golden dome
  • The National Grid tank along the Dorchester waterfront, featuring the “Rainbow Swash” mural

“Wicked Blue embodies our pride in the Boston community, crewmembers, and customers who have helped build JetBlue into the airline we are today,” said Marty St. George, president of JetBlue, in a media statement. “Boston is one of our most important markets with a huge loyalty base, and it's a key driver of our JetForward strategy to offer the best East Coast leisure network. We wanted to say thank you to Bostonians who've supported us for over 20 years, and what's more fitting than sending our pride for Boston flying all over our network?”

According to a report by The Patriot Ledgerthe plane's official introduction took place at a private ceremony on Friday, Dec. 19, at Logan International Airport in Boston.

JetBlue operates approximately 130 daily flights from Logan International Airport, according to The Patriot Ledger.
