Harpoon Brewery has unveiled its refreshed look for its flagship Harpoon IPA. It is the first major packaging refresh since 2020. The product will roll out in January 2026 and be on shelves beginning in February.

Coinciding with Harpoon's 40th anniversary, the redesign reinforces four pillars — heritage with confidence, authentic localism, reliable quality, and accessible expertise. Harpoon Brewery received Brewing Permit #001 in Massachusetts in 1986.

According to a Patch of Massachusetts report, the new packaging centers on a bold blue field with the classic HARPOON wordmark and a sharper orange IPA lockup. In addition, a simplified anchor-and-ribbon emblem complements the text, EST 1986 and 6.0% ABV to improve shelf hierarchy.

Amid the redesign, Harpoon Brewery is also preserving its heritage motifs, like the harpoon and tiger lily, while adopting a maritime-forward look to keep Harpoon IPA modern and distinctly Boston-branded.

The redesign will span every format — cans, bottles, six-packs, 12-packs, and tap handles — to ensure a cohesive, modern presence across all serving formats.

Despite the packaging changes, the beer itself remains a bright, floral, crisp IPA that continues to reflect quality and flavor.

“We've always taken pride in being part of Boston's story. From day one, Harpoon was brewed for this community — our friends, our neighborhoods, and our city. Seeing this design come to life is both nostalgic and energizing. It honors where we started while showing how much more there is ahead for Harpoon IPA,” said Dan Kenary, Harpoon co-founder and president of Barrel One Collective.
