Checkers & Rally’s Opens First Massachusetts Location in Worcester

Checkers & Rally's has marked a significant milestone in its business growth by expanding into Massachusetts with a Worcester location at 99 Gold Star Blvd. This move signals the brand's first entry into the state and its broader reach into New England. 

The Worcester restaurant is led by Muhammad Saleem and Kelly Moughal, a husband-and-wife team with more than 30 years of restaurant experience. Their son, Adom Moughal, joins them in the operations. Moughal recently earned an operations award with Checkers & Rally's for his influence on the organization.

The couple brings more than 30 years of restaurant experience to this new venture, backed by a portfolio that spans Subway, Little Caesars, Bonchon, and Captain D's. Together, Saleem and Moughal have built their career on operational excellence and a people-first leadership style. They employ more than 175 team members across their brands and treat every employee like family.

“Bringing Checkers & Rally's to Massachusetts represents a new chapter for our family, the communities we serve, and the brand as a whole,” said Kelly Moughal in a statement shared with QSR magazine. “We're thrilled to introduce Worcester to the bold flavors and energy that make Checkers so special, and we're committed to earning our place as a trusted and valued part of this community.”

Massachusetts is one of several states that Checkers & Rally's is targeting with its broader expansion plan, which aims to enter selective markets nationwide, including Wisconsin, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Southern California, Las Vegas, Florida, and South Carolina.
