MSPCA-Angell Waives Adoption Fees for Adult Dogs in Holiday Campaign

A coalition involving the MSPCA-Angell and five of its shelter partners is waiving adoption fees for dogs one year old and older as part of a holiday adopt-a-thon event.

Called "Snow Place Like Home," the event will run from Dec. 8 to Dec. 14.

"We started the coalition last year with the goal of reducing euthanasia in shelters across the state and improving the overall well-being of animals that call the Commonwealth home," said Jamie Garabedian, project manager in the MSPCA-Angell's Animal Protection Division, in a statement shared with NewsCenter 5. "A big part of that is lowering the barriers to adoption."

The following shelters will participate in the adopt-a-thon:

Individuals can also contact Boston Animal Care and Control at 617-635-1800 to inquire about adoptions. Additionally, those interested in adopting a dog can visit the Berkshire Humane Society on Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Individuals can complete an application online.

At the Baypath Humane Society, members of the public can visit on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Appointments are also available for adopters who complete questionnaires for the dog they are interested in.
