The Hanover Theatre and Conservatory for the Performing Arts will present a new version of A Christmas Carol running from Dec. 17 to 28. This brand-new production will feature updated music, sets, choreography, lighting, and special effects.

Speaking with Worcester Magazineartistic director Troy Siebels explained that these new aspects of the performance will engage first-time audience members and veterans of the show.

According to Worcester Magazine, a new set by designer Kelly James Tighe will provide moving interiors and exteriors with portals across multiple levels. They'll be complemented by updated lighting by Charlie Morrison and projections by Camilla Tassi to heighten magical moments during the production.

Steve Gagliastro, who serves as music director, has written 12 new songs, with arrangements of traditional carols and a new opening number.

Terance Reddick and Sarah Milnamow will portray Bob and Mrs. Cratchit, respectively, as the Cratchit family. According to the Worcester Magazine report, this year's production of A Christmas Carol has a cast of 28, ranging from children in Central Massachusetts to professional actors from New York City and Virginia.

The production will also feature Taavon Gamble as choreographer for the new pieces, Jim Rice as the organ arranger for the Mighty Wurlitzer, and Sean Redrow as the preshow concert performer.

A Christmas Carol will be performed at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 17 (sensory-friendly performance); 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 18; 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 20; 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 21 (audio description and ASL services); 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 23; 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 26; 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 27; and 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 28.

Performances will be held at The Hanover Theatre and Conservatory for the Performing Arts, 2 Southbridge St. in Worcester.
