The Trans-Siberian Orchestra (TSO) will perform at the DCU Center in Worcester on Saturday, Nov. 29, as part of its annual holiday tour, presenting "The Ghosts of Christmas Eve: The Best of TSO and More." Two shows are scheduled at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m.
According to a Worcester Magazine report, it will include a performance of The Ghosts of Christmas Eve, originally a 1999 TV special. The second half features more of the band's hits and fan favorites, as well as a "25th-anniversary salute" to its 2000 album, Beethoven's Last Night.
Tickets for shows at the DCU Center in Worcester start at $55 and can be purchased through the DCU Center website.
The progressive rock group released its debut album, Christmas Eve and Other Stories, in 1996. It would be the first album of its "Christmas trilogy," which also includes The Christmas Attic (1998) and The Lost Christmas Eve (2004), all with various storylines exploring the spirit of the holidays. The first tour was in 1999.
TSO's live shows are renowned for their visual spectacle, featuring pyrotechnics and lasers. The band is joined by heavy metal infusions, synthesizers, and traditional Christmas melodies, attracting individuals from coast to coast.
According to Worcester Magazine, TSO maintains a long-standing tradition of philanthropy. The late founder, Paul O'Neill, guides the charity ethos. The band donates at least $1 from every ticket to local charities, contributing more than $20 million from more than 20 million tickets sold.
"I love doing these tours. It is such a joy to do the shows, because the music means so much to so many people," said drummer Jeff Plate. "I'm not getting any younger, but I think the future's good."
