Santa Claus is making an unforgettable entrance to kick off the 2025 holiday season — by helicopter.
Boston MedFlight, the region’s nonprofit critical-care transport provider, will help Santa trade his sleigh for a helicopter as he lands on the Boston Common softball field on Sunday, November 30, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event, “Santa in the Common,” promises a mix of holiday magic, community spirit, and charity — all in support of a good cause.
Families are invited to gather for photos with Santa, enjoy festive activities, and help spread cheer to children experiencing homelessness and poverty. Attendees are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy to benefit Christmas in the City, a Boston-based nonprofit that has supported thousands of families in need for decades.
This year’s event continues a special partnership between Santa and Boston MedFlight, which has been serving New England communities for more than 40 years. The nonprofit provides lifesaving care to more than 6,000 patients each year, transporting them by air and ground to hospitals across the region. Their role in delivering Santa to downtown Boston adds a joyful twist to their mission of service and compassion.
“Santa in the Common” is free and open to the public, making it an accessible way for families to kick off the season and give back. With the Boston skyline as a backdrop, Santa’s dramatic helicopter arrival — weather and safety permitting — is expected to draw crowds eager to welcome him back to the heart of the city.
Parents are encouraged to arrive early, as the helicopter landing will be one of the most anticipated moments of the day. Alongside the holiday festivities, event organizers will share information about Boston MedFlight’s vital work in the community and how residents can support their ongoing mission.
