In October, Boston is brimming with creativity and celebration, and there are lots of opportunities to celebrate the season this month. There are thrilling events, such as the Boston Book Festival, family-friendly activities, such as PruBoo and Zoo Howl, and outdoor movies and performers, such as TINA — The Tina Turner Musical and Andromeda's Halloween Cabaret. No matter your age or interests, there's absolutely something for everyone this weekend.
Boston Book Festival 2025
- What: A celebration of the power of words to stimulate, agitate, unite, delight, and inspire
- When: Saturday, Oct. 25, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Where: Copley Square, Boston
- Cost: Free admission; special ticketed keynote evenings available
The Boston Book Festival fosters a lively culture of reading and ideas in Boston. Year-round activities culminate in a large festival that showcases authors, promotes community dialogue, and brings people together through the power of words.
PruBoo 2025
- What: A family-friendly Halloween celebration with activities
- When: Sunday, Oct. 26, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Where: Prudential Center, 800 Boylston St., Boston
- Cost: Free admission and activities; $5 donation suggested via purchase of a Prudential Center trick-or-treat bag
The Prudential Center's annual PruBoo celebration provides families with a day full of fun Halloween and community activities. Children can trick-or-treat at dozens of participating stores and restaurants while taking part in festive activities, such as face painting, crafts, live music, and magic shows. Visitors are encouraged to make a charitable donation that benefits the Boston Children's Hospital by purchasing a Prudential Center trick-or-treat bag. With treats, entertainment, and plenty of spooky surprises, PruBoo offers a lively Halloween experience for kids and parents alike throughout the Prudential Center.
Greenway Fall Movie Nights
- What: An outdoor family-friendly movie
- When: Friday, Oct. 24, 2025, at sunset (approximately 6:30 p.m.)
- Where: Color Commons, 74-8 Milk St., Boston
- Cost: Free admission, popcorn, and candy (while supplies last); food truck items available for purchase
The Greenway's Fall Movie Nights return with an outdoor film series that celebrates autumn and community spirit, featuring "Halloweentown" for the final show. Presented in partnership with the City of Boston's Tourism, Sports, and Entertainment department, the event features classic and family-friendly movies under the stars. Guests will be treated to free popcorn and candy, have access to a food truck, and be able to borrow blankets for free for a cozy viewing experience.
This event is supported by Meet Boston, the Mass Cultural Council, and the Greenway BID. It is also part of the 2025 Greenway ARTbeat Series, bringing film, food, and festive fun to the city.
