On Wednesday, Oct. 15, the Hingham Police Department and Wahlburgers hosted their fifth annual Burgers Against Breast Cancer fundraiser at Wahlburgers' flagship location at Hingham Shipyard.
The event was organized to raise funds for breast cancer research at Dana Farber Cancer Institute through the Hingham police's Pink Patch Project. The sale of specialty patches, hats, and T-shirts helped raise funds for the initiative.
During the fundraiser, Wahlburgers donated a portion of the evening's food sales to support breast cancer research.
"Who isn't affected by breast cancer? There are so many people that we know in the community," Wahlburgers co-founder Paul Wahlberg said in a statement shared with NewsCenter 5 Boston. "For us to be able to give back and support the police and help support the work that they do is amazing for us."
"They've always been a part of the community since they opened here," Hingham police Lt. Steven Dearth said about the partnership in a statement to NewsCenter 5. He noted how Wahlburgers remains committed to supporting charitable efforts.
Members of the public can purchase Pink Patch items through the end of October in the lobby of the Hingham Public Safety building at 35 Essington Drive in Hingham.
