Joe Jutras, a farmer from Scituate, Rhode Island, has set a new world record for the heaviest green squash. His extraordinary vegetable weighs in at 2,200 pounds.
The achievement was officially acknowledged during the 2025 SNGPG Weigh Off. According to a Patch of Providence report, the award was presented to Jutras at the 2025 Southern New England Giant Pumpkin Growers (SNGPG) Weigh Off held at Frerichs Farm.
The record-breaking squash, grown by Jutras, is now on display at the Roger Williams Park Zoo as part of the Providence zoo's Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular event, which runs through Sunday, Nov. 2. This event features thousands of carved pumpkins that illuminate the Wetlands Trail and highlights Jutras' record-breaking squash.
