Boston's base as an education hub was recently recognized by the website Niche.com. Its staff ranked school districts across the city based on enrollment and graduation rates, student test performance, data from the U.S. Department of Education, and reviews from parents, students, and teachers.
Here are the top-ranking school districts in the Boston area, according to Niche.com:
Public Schools of Brookline
The Public Schools of Brookline lead the rankings, earning an A+ across academics, teachers, administration, college prep, and extracurricular activities. Schools have a 96% graduation rate and achieve an average SAT score of 1380.
According to Boston Agent Magazine, Public Schools of Brookline also ranked as the best of all 217 districts in the state and appeared in first place on Niche's list of the best places in Massachusetts to teach.
Weston Public Schools
Weston Public Schools ranks second among the top districts, earning an A+ for academics, teachers, and college preparation. More than 75% of students demonstrate proficiency in both math and reading. Schools report a 95% graduation rate, and students score an average of 31 on the ACT.
According to Boston Agent Magazine, Weston Public Schools was also recognized as the second-best school district in the state and the fourth-best place to teach in Massachusetts.
Lexington Public Schools
Lexington Public Schools ranks third and earned an A+ for academics, teachers, and college preparation. Schools in the district boast a 98% graduation rate. State test scores show that 79% of students are proficient in math and 77% are proficient in reading. Students achieve an average SAT score of 1400.
