The New Hampshire Attorney General's Office has issued a warning about the increase in job-related scams across the state.
According to a WMUR report, authorities say that scammers are impersonating local businesses by sending emails and text messages that appear to come from New Hampshire companies.
The state's attorney general recommends not replying to texts or emails. Jobseekers are advised to verify job listings by contacting companies directly through their official contact information, rather than responding to suspicious messages.
Recipients of job offers should avoid sending personal details via unsecured channels, such as text messages, email, or virtual interviews, especially if the interviewers don't have their cameras on.
Additionally, individuals shouldn't pay for any training or equipment if asked.
Anyone who believes they have experienced consumer fraud should contact the Attorney General's Office Consumer Protection and Antitrust Bureau by emailing DOJ-CPB@doj.nh.gov or calling 888-468-4454.
