Biking
Biking is particularly enjoyable during the fall months due to pleasant weather. The 25-mile Cape Cod Rail Trail offers plenty of picturesque views of ponds, bogs, and salt marshes to discover along the journey through towns such as Brewster, Dennis, Eastham, and Orleans.
Friday Night High School Football
High school boys varsity football games are a staple of Friday evenings, including Barnstable High School. Home games at the high school at 744 W. Main St. in Hyannis are on Oct. 3, 17, and 31. General admission is less than $10.
Wellfleet OysterFest
The Wellfleet OysterFest during the weekend of Oct. 18-19 celebrates the region's seafood heritage with events like an oyster-shucking contest. This year marks the 25th anniversary of this popular community gathering.
Yarmouth
Yarmouth offers a Sand Sculpture Trail to discover. The trail features sculptures by Sean Fitzpatrick across 30 locations until mid-October. The sculptures will be exhibited until the weekend of Indigenous Peoples' Day, or Columbus Day, Oct. 11-13.
