Braintree's new Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) location at 60 Columbian St. officially opened on Monday, Sept. 23. It replaces the Plain Street service center, which previously operated through Friday, Sept. 19, at 10 Plain St.

All services available at the former Plain Street location, including road tests, will be offered at the new site. The Columbian Street branch is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

According to RMV officials in a statement provided to the Patch of Braintree, the new Columbian Street branch will provide an “improved customer experience, increased accessibility, and enhanced safety of operations, featuring 17 customer service counters and a dedicated area for commercial customers.”

“This is the third RMV center being opened in recent months, and I appreciate the work by employees to prepare for successful operations for our customers in Braintree, Milford, and Chelsea (formerly Revere),” said Registrar of Motor Vehicles Colleen Ogilvie in a statement shared with the Patch of Braintree. “Over the past several years, the RMV has made strides in building an industry-leading environment for individual and commercial customers, as well as for business and government partners.”

The RMV also operates a road test site in Braintree at 717 Granite St., which will continue to be open for road test scheduling.
