Cape Air has announced the launch of a new twice-daily flight service between New Bedford Regional Airport and Boston Logan International Airport, starting Monday, Sept. 29.
Two flights will depart from New Bedford to Boston at 8:15 a.m. and 2 p.m. Two flights will depart from Logan to New Bedford Regional Airport at 1 p.m. and 6:40 p.m.
According to Cape Air's website, tickets for the flight are priced at $79 for a one-way ticket.
New Bedford city officials praised the idea of offering residents a more convenient travel option to Logan International Airport. The service aims to help reduce traffic congestion, shorten TSA wait times, and save on parking costs, which are only $10 daily at New Bedford Regional Airport.
In a Standard-Times report, Mayor Jon Mitchell highlighted that this new route reflects Cape Air's commitment to the local airport and the city's economic growth. He believes it will potentially attract new business to the area.
A ceremony will be held at New Bedford Regional Airport on Sept. 29 to celebrate the inaugural flight, said Jonathan Darling, New Bedford's public information officer.
