A new Survivor fan experience called "Survivor Ultimate Fan Cafe" has opened at The Greatest Bar in Boston, near TD Garden. Fans of the hit reality show can venture upstairs to the top two levels of the bar to discover a redesigned space, themed menu, and interactive Survivor-inspired challenges.
Beginning the week of Sept. 22, the cafe will begin holding Survivor watch parties for Season 49.
Entry tickets for the immersive fan experience start at $30 and include a $10 food and beverage credit. Reservations are good for 90 minutes.
The Greatest Bar has its own connection with Survivor history. Boston Rob, also known as Rob Mariano, was a five-time Survivor contestant and winner of Survivor Season 22 "Redemption Island" in 2011. Mariano worked at the bar while attending Boston University as a student.
When viewers from Greater Boston tune in for the start of Season 49, they'll find a Massachusetts resident among the castaways. Shannon Fairweather, a 28-year-old from Wakefield, Massachusetts, will be competing for the $1 million prize. During this season, the castaways are stranded on the island of Fiji as they compete for the title of Sole Survivor.
Being on the show is the fulfillment of a lifelong dream, she said.
"It almost feels like I am getting married or something," she told CBS News Boston. "The experience fulfills more than you could ever imagine."
