Worcester police dispatcher Fundador Morales III will perform with the Handel and Haydn Society chorus at Boston's Symphony Hall on Oct. 3 and 5.
The Handel and Haydn Society Orchestra and Chorus performance will feature five guest soloists, the Handel and Haydn Youth Chorus and Chamber Choir, and the Handel and Haydn CitySing, a program that Morales joined during the summer. In total, approximately 90 to 100 singers will be part of the musical experience.
For Morales, it will be the first time singing with CitySing and the Handel and Haydn Society, as well as singing in Symphony Hall and being part of a chorus for Handel's oratorio Saul.
Fundador, who is originally from Boston, has resided in Worcester since 2005. Since 2018, he has been a police, fire, and EMS dispatcher with the city's Emergency Communications Department.
Morales, who has a background in church, gospel, and pop singing, describes his role as part of a collective voice and is looking forward to the experience.
"I'm excited to blend my voice, to be all one voice with the choir," he said of the Handel and Haydn Society, affectionately known as H+H, in a statement shared with the Telegram & Gazette.
Morales is one of approximately 30 singers from across Massachusetts chosen to participate in H+H CitySing. H+H artistic director Jonathan Cohen created H+H to "celebrate and showcase the vitality of the Greater Boston singing community and honor the 'society' spirit of H+H's founding," according to the Telegram & Gazette.
The Handel and Haydn Society is beginning its 211th consecutive season since it debuted in 1815. This length of service is the most for any performing arts organization in the United States.
The H+H October performances will include distinguished guest soloists like Neal Davies singing the role of Saul and Rhode Island native Christopher Lowrey singing the role of David. Handel's Saul was first performed in 1738.
Saul , presented by the Handel and Haydn Society, will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 3, and at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 5, at the Boston Symphony Hall, 301 Massachusetts Ave. Tickets range from $15 to $112.
