Plymouth residents will have a new way to shop sustainably beginning this fall. The community's new "Swap Shop" is opening its doors on Saturday, Sept. 27, at 33 Hedges Pond Road.

This municipally owned facility will be open Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon through Oct. 25. It will close for the winter and reopen in May 2026.

According to a Facebook post by Sustainable Plymouth, the new "Swap Shop" aims to support sustainable shopping practices by reducing pollution and waste, while promoting a circular economy—"keeping products and materials in use for as long as possible."

The shop will be staffed by resident volunteers and maintained by staff of the Plymouth Department of Public Works.

According to a Newbreak report, residents are encouraged to bring in items in good condition, such as housewares, small appliances, toys, games, sports equipment, and tools, with opportuities to walk home with "new-to-you" items. Certain products, including textiles, baby equipment, food, medicine, hazardous materials, electronics, and large furniture, cannot be accepted.
