A beloved North Shore chocolate maker has set sail for Boston in the most literal way possible. Harbor Sweets, the Salem-based artisan confectionery known for its nautical-themed treats, has opened a show-stopping 40-foot boat-shaped retail location inside Copley Place that's unlike anything else in the city.

The new shoppe, which officially opened this week, features an impressive 34-foot antique mast with authentic sails reaching into the mall's atrium. Located strategically near the bridge to the Prudential Center and across from the Copley Marriott, the maritime-inspired store serves as a floating tribute to the company's flagship Sweet Sloops chocolates.

"This expansion into Boston marks an exciting new chapter for our company," said Jonathan Kasen, co-owner of Harbor Sweets. "Our new shoppe at Copley Place is more than just a retail space—it's a tribute to our company's history and New England's favorite confection".

For over 50 years, Harbor Sweets has been crafting handmade chocolates from its brick factory in Salem, where founder Ben Strohecker first created the iconic Sweet Sloops in his Marblehead kitchen back in 1973. These signature treats—sailboat-shaped almond buttercrunch toffee with white chocolate "sails" and dark chocolate "hulls" sprinkled with crushed pecans—remain the company's bestseller.

The Boston location joins existing Harbor Sweets shops in Salem and Beverly, offering the full range of nautically-themed chocolates alongside Boston-themed gifts and a self-serve candy wall. Shoppers can watch the chocolate-making process while sampling the company's various collections, from seasonal offerings to their equestrian-themed Salt & Ayre line.

Harbor Sweets will officially christen its floating chocolate destination on Tuesday, September 30th at 11:00 AM with a champagne-breaking ceremony. The Copley Place location operates Monday through Saturday from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, and Sundays from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
