Thirteen hospitals in New Hampshire have been honored among more than 4,800 nationwide that participate in the American Heart Association's Get With The Guidelines initiative to improve outcomes for heart disease and stroke patients.

The 13 hospitals recognized this year are: 

  • Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital
  • Catholic Medical Center
  • Concord Hospital
  • Concord Hospital in Franklin
  • Concord Hospital in Laconia
  • Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center
  • Elliot Health System
  • Exeter Hospital
  • Parkland Medical Center
  • Portsmouth Regional Hospital
  • St. Joseph Hospital
  • Southern New Hampshire Medical Center
  • Wentworth-Douglass Hospital

According to an American Heart Association news release, the annual recognition program spotlights hospitals nationwide that adhere to the latest research-based guidelines to ensure effective treatment for all patients.

“Every 40 seconds, someone in America has a stroke or heart attack,” said Michele Bolles, American Heart Association senior vice president of quality, outcomes research, and analytics, in a statement within the news release. “High-quality care should be accessible to all, and sites awarded through the Get With The Guidelines program help work toward our shared vision of health and hope for everyone, everywhere.”
