Recent New York Times rankings have placed two Boston establishments among the top 50 best restaurants in the United States.
La Padrona, a Jody Adams' Italian restaurant in Back Bay, and McGonagle's, an Irish pub in Dorchester, were named to the Times' 50 best list this year.
McGonagle's, which shared the news on Instagram, said it was the first time an Irish pub made the list since the Times began publishing it in 2021. Times food reporter Julia Moskin recognized McGonagle's chef Aidan McGee for exploring redefining “what Irish food is, and what it isn't” for pub patrons.
La Padrona, which has received a four-star review from The Boston Globe since it opened in 2024, also celebrated its recognition on Instagram. Moskin said that Adams' tagliatelle Emilia-Romagna is a “must-have ... composed around two ingredients from the Italian region: A mound of shaved Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese does creamy and salty, and a trickle of aged balsamic vinegar chimes in with sour and sweet.”
La Padrona opened last May at the Raffles Hotel in Back Bay.
