The theatrical experience "Dark Tales Told on a Cold Autumn Eve" is coming back to Cape Cod's stages in October.

Developed by playwright Jim Dalglish and co-directed with Jennifer Kangas, Cape Cod's supernatural tales have been adapted for the theater.

Initially produced in 2018 at the Contuit Center for the Arts, "Dark Tales" highlights the region's ghostly folklore and history.

Performances are scheduled at the following Cape Cod venues:

  • Academy of Performing Arts in Orleans
  • Cotuit Center for the Arts
  • The Provincetown Inn
  • Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater

According to a Cape Cod Times report, the cast of "Dark Tales" will include various actors such as Bonnie Fairbanks, Geof Newton, and Ian Ryan, who depict characters such as Madame X, Maria, Sam, and The Fisherman. The storyline primarily revolves around Sam, a ghostly tavern keeper, who shares tales of Cape Cod's forgotten souls, including mooncussers, Pilgrims, pirates, politicians, selkies, and witches, personifying the themes of betrayal, redemption, and revenge.

Helltown Players is the producer of "Dark Tales," in partnership with local arts centers and theaters.

More information about "Dark Tales" is available on Dalglish's website.
